Kwanjula with a modern touch — honouring tradition, elevated

A kwanjula is first and foremost a family event — a gathering of two clans, generous in food, warm in welcome. Modernising it doesn't mean stripping tradition; it means giving it a stage that feels intentional.

Honour the elders

Seat elders in raised, canopied areas with clear sightlines to the ceremony. It reads as respect and it photographs like a portrait.

Elevate the arrival

A wide woven arch at the entrance, lined with soft floor lanterns, transforms an ordinary compound into a threshold. The first photograph of the day is always the arrival.
